The Taino word for ceremonial hatchet is "manaya". These
so-called "petaloid celt" hatchets are very common and get their
archeological name "petaloid" because the actual tear-like stone blade
is shaped like a flower petal.
The meaning of ceremonial hatchets of the ancient Tainos was Guakar's
tool of Experience, one of the means by which the ancient Tainos gained
wisdom through harsh
experience.
